The Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings and the Foundation Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings deeply mourn the loss of Edmond H. Fischer, who passed away peacefully in Seattle on 27 August 2021 at the age of 101. He had been awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 1992 together with Edwin G. Krebs “for their discoveries concerning reversible protein phosphorylation as a biological regulatory mechanism.”

Only in June he had participated for the 12th time in a Lindau Meeting:

Further conversations in the context of the Lindau Meetings:

Countess Bettina Bernadotte, President of the Council: “Everybody from the Council and the Foundation Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings is deeply saddened by the loss of Edmond H. Fischer, a true Lindau friend – but also grateful for the wealth of experience he leaves to the entire world of science: He truly inspired many young scientists for the ´beauty of science` as he once put it himself. We extend our deep sympathies to Edmond Fischer‘s whole family.”
