Faces – Young Scientist Profile: Khalid Ahmed

Khalid Ahmed quit being a banker to get back to research. Now he’s at #LindauEcon14 and on Faces.

In Faces we portray the young scientists of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings and give them an open forum to talk about their research and everything else that is important to them. Everybody should feel encouraged to also share their own thoughts and stories. faces_ahmed_profileOn his research interests:

“My research interests are trade and climate change policy and modelling the strategic framework for establishing mutual consensus among global environmental negotiators, especially developing and developed countries.”

On the challenges of an economist’s life:

“I come from a rural area of Pakistan and strived for my education and research and remained away from my family for 10 years.”

On his motivation:

“My motivation for teaching and research in economic sciences can be determined from the fact that I quit my well running banking career in order to pursue a PhD. I finished my PhD from one of the key research universities of the P.R China and got best thesis award of the year and published three research articles.”
