Daily Recap – Sunday, 29 June 2025

Opening Day with Countess Bettina, new Federal Minister Dorothee Bär (Germany) and Eva-Maria Holzleitner (Austria), Lindau habitué Bavarian Minister Markus Blume.

Finally, the moment has arrived: the Opening of the 74th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting!

After exciting weeks looking forward to the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in the discipline of chemistry, all eyes will be on the Nobel Laureates and the Young Scientists in Lindau now.

The Opening Ceremony in the Inselhalle – the main venue for the meeting – included greetings from several top-class guests and music from an ensemble of the Vienna Philharmonic. It was followed by the start of the academic programme, including a compelling Panel Discussion titled “Consequences of the Nobel Prize”, featuring Nobel Laureates Frances H. Arnold, Martin Chalfie, and John M. Jumper, moderated by Nils Hansson, historian of science.

Young Scientists had their first opportunity to meet and engage in conversation with the Laureates. And, of course, what should never be missed is good food in the evening to round off this exciting day and dream about the next days in Lindau.

Quote of the Day

“It’s up to us to better explain the benefits of science.”

Frances H. Arnold, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry 2018
