Daily Recap – Friday, 4 July 2025

All aboard! The final day of #LINO25 started under the motto ‘the early bird catches the worm’. At around 07:30, we headed off to Mainau Island from Lindau Harbour. The Young Scientists were excited about the upcoming programme. Some used the trip for a little relaxation on the deck of MS Sonnenkönigin before the final stretch, while others were enjoying the breakfast buffet or playing games on the boat.
As we stepped onto Mainau Island, the sun came out just in time for the final Panel Discussion on “Global Challenges, Global Solutions: The Role of Science Diplomacy”.
Quote of the Day
“You are the future, I trust you. And I see the future in you, and so I know that you will go forth and change the world for us.”
Moungi G. Bawendi, Chemistry 2023
Blog Post of the Day
In our Blog Post of the Day, #LINO25 participant Sidonie Laviéville reveals her innovative work on a new class of recyclable polymers designed to replace traditional, non-recyclable thermosetting materials.
Fact of the Day
If you wanted to swim the 40km from Lindau to Mainau, it would take approximately 20 hours. At which point, you could still be listening to the last two hours of internationally selected music from our Lindau Alumni Party Playlist!
Via the Lindau Alumni Network, we had asked Young Scientists to suggest their favourite tracks for the Alumni Party – especially those that are popular in their country or represent their culture. More than 130 Young Scientists contributed over 360 songs!
Today’s Highlight Session
The Panel Discussion on Mainau Island offered a perfect conclusion to the Scientific Programme. Peter Agre, Frances H. Arnold, Martin Chalfie, Fuhar Dixit, and Yuko Harayama contributed to the discussion about “Global Challenges, Global Solutions: The Role of Science Diplomacy”, which they all seemingly enjoyed.
That’s a wrap! Though the 74th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting has come to a close, its influence continues to inspire. If the whirlwind of Lectures, Panel Discussions, and encounters feels like a blur by now — no worries! We’ve gathered all the key moments and reflections in one place so you can relive the experience or catch up on anything you missed at our Mediatheque or on Flickr (photographs).
Goodbye #LINO25 Young Scientists and congratulations to now being Lindau Alumni — that being said: Make sure that you signed up for the Lindau Alumni Network!
