75th Lindau Meeting – Final Information Before You Arrive

The 75^th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting is just around the corner, and here’s everything you need to know, practical tips and travel info to make your experience smooth and memorable.

Registeration

Location: Inselhalle, Zwanzigerstraße 10, 88131 Lindau (Bodensee)

Dates & Times:

Saturday, 27 June: 13:00–18:00 CEST
Sunday, 28 June: 10:30–19:00 CEST

At registration, you’ll receive your name badge and meeting materials. Please have your valid passport or EU ID and your invitation email with your QR code ready at the entrance.

Getting to Lindau

There are no official shuttle buses, so please organize your journey individually.

By Train: Most nearby airports connect to Lindau-Inselbahnhof (island station) or Lindau-Reutin (mainland).
- Visit www.bahn.com for schedules and tickets.
- Tip: The Bayern-/Baden-Württemberg-Ticket is a great value for regional trains and buses (not valid on ICE, IC, or ECE trains).
By Bus: Long-distance connections via www.flixbus.com are also available.

If your travel plans change unexpectedly, please inform both us and your hotel or host family directly. You’ll find contact details in your hotel confirmation document.

You will be welcomed at the Young Scientist Help Desk where you will receive your individual meeting documents.

Your name badge grants access to all venues and acts as a bus ticket (27 June – 4 July) if your hotel is located on the mainland. We will scan participants at all entrances and will not be able to let those without their name badge enter the different meeting venues!

Opening day:

This year we have enhanced security measures and we kindly requet to abide by the following rules:

You must arrive at Inselhalle by 12:30 PM at the very latest or you won’t be able to attend the Opening ceremony
You must provide a valid passport or EU ID at the entrance in addition to the name badge or QR coderecived by mail for a first check in at the Inselhalle.
Driving licences or student ID cards will not be accepted!
Backpacks, bags, and handbags exceeding A4 size are not permitted inside the event venue (up to letter size/ max. 21 x30 cm) – big luggage and backpacks must be dropped at the lorry next to the building. All bags will be examined!
You must show your valid passport or EU ID every time you leave or enter the building. Purses and bags will be examined each time as well.

Lindau Nobel Peace Dialogue

Arriving in town a day early? Join us on the evening of the official opening for a public panel discussion that sets the stage for two of the the week’s core themes: Intergrity and Resilience.

On Saturday, 27 June at 16:30, three Nobel Peace Prize recipients and representatives—Laureate: Ales Bialiatski, former President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso, and former President of the UN General Assembly Seung-soo Han – will gather at the Stadttheater Lindau.

They will discuss the vital relationship between science, civil society, and political responsibility – offering you an inspiring and thought-provoking kickoff to your #LINO75 experience.

What to Pack

An adapter/voltage converter before you travel (Germany uses 220V power sockets).

Over the last years, one of the events has become particularly popular among all participants: the ‘Bavarian Evening’ hosted by the Free State of Bavaria. For this occasion, it is a great idea to wear traditional festive attire from your home country. Those of you who own traditional Bavarian costumes (a Dirndl or Lederhose) are more than welcome to wear that.

Morning Workouts

The Morning workout takes place at the Oskar-Groll-Anlage (outdoors) or Jahnturnhalle (indoors if bad weather). Make sure to bring water and comfortable clothing.

Staying Connected

The meeting venue is equipped with wireless LAN (WiFi). You will receive the access information with your meeting documents at registration.

Money

The currency used in Germany is the Euro. Money can be exchanged at airports. Credit cards (e.g. Visa, Mastercard) and Maestro/EC cards can be used to withdraw money from ATMs (called ‘Geldautomaten’), several of which are available in town. Credit/debit cards are widely accepted, but not everywhere. Traveller cheques are not recommended.

Health & Emergencies

In case of an emergency at the main meeting venue, please contact the staff. Please note that our staff is not authorised to hand out any medication. A paramedic team is present at the meeting venue and can help with all health-related issues. If you have an emergency at a different location, please either contact any of the staff present or call 112, the official emergency number that will work in all the EU countries and in Switzerland. During the meeting, Young Scientists studying outside of Germany will be covered by a health insurance policy provided by the organizers.

Mainau Island – A Grand Finale

Friday will start with a cruise to Mainau Island.

On the last day, we’ll cruise to Mainau Island for the final panel discussion on “How to Rebuild Trust in Science?” – followed by our closing ceremony. Enjoy the traditional Science Picnic, explore the island’s famous gardens, and return to Lindau by boat. The perfect location for the Farewell Party – where Young Scientists officially become Lindau Alumni 2026!
If you’re leaving on Friday, please check in your luggage in the morning at Lindau Harbour. There will be two lorries: one for Mainau departures, one for Lindau
departures.
