New Film Series “A Picture of Health”

The trailer of the 2014 Nature Video film series and the film “HIV in hiding” are out now!

At this year’s Lindau Meeting on Physiology/Medicine a new series of films was produced by Nature Video with the support of Mars, Incorporated: “A Picture of Health” consists of four films. The trailer and the first film entitled “HIV in hiding” are out now, the remaining three films will be published on October 1, 8, and 15.

Nature Reporter Lorna Stewart travelled to the 64th Lindau Meeting in quest of answers to some of the most profound questions in medicine. Discussing with Nobel Laureates and aspiring young scientists, Lorna gets to grips with the realities of an ageing global population, she delves into the past 40 years of cancer research, she wonders if we’ll ever eliminate side effects when we take medication, and she receives a reality check on the battle against HIV. Watch the trailer!

In 2008, Timothy Ray Brown became the first person to be cured of HIV – or so many claim. Brown is known as the “Berlin Patient” and six years on, the virus has still not been detected in his blood. In “HIV in hiding”, Lorna Stewart wants to know the implications of his remarkable treatment. But her dreams of an imminent cure quickly fade as Nobel Laureate Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, who discovered HIV, brings Lorna back to Earth with a bump. Find out why and watch the film!
