The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings

The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings provide a globally recognised forum for the exchange of knowledge between Nobel Laureates and young researchers.

The scientific programme comprises interdisciplinary platform discussions, lectures presented by the Laureates and seminar talks and is spread over several days. It reflects current scientific topics and deals with developments covering different fields; it addresses questions relating to basic research and application-orientated themes. The social programme forms an integral element of the programme concept of the Nobel Laureate Meetings. It is designed to provide as many opportunities for personal interaction as possible: Get-together evenings, jointly attended dinners, as well as the boat trip to the Isle of Mainau; all these activities offer excellent opportunities for intensive discussion between the Laureates and 'Best Talents'. Young researchers from more than 60 countries attend any one Meeting. They are nominated by a global network of Academic Partners and then evaluated by a review panel.

From June 26 - July 1, 2011, 23 Nobel Laureates and 566 young researchers from 77 countries met at Lindau (Germany) to exchange ideas, discuss projects and build international networks. It was the 61st Lindau Meeting of Nobel Laureates, dedicated to Physiology/Medicine.

From August 23 - 27, 2011, 18 Economics Laureates and 373 young economists from 65 countries met in Lindau (Germany) to exchange ideas, discuss the state of their discipline and build international networks. This was the 4th Meeting of the Winners of the Sverige Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel.
